Electronics guide for travelers visiting Tanzania

Charging, plugs, power banks and where to get device help, including Arusha.

Tanzania uses about 230 volt, 50 Hz mains power. The plugs you meet most often are Type G, the rectangular British three-pin, and older Type D round-pin sockets. A universal adapter that includes Type G covers most hotels. Check the adapter is rated for 230 volts. Phone and laptop chargers that already say 100–240V do not need a voltage converter, only the plug shape.

Pack one USB-C cable you trust, and a power bank with its capacity printed on the unit. Safari vehicles and camps may have limited sockets in the evening. Do not leave a power bank in direct sun on a seat or dashboard.

If a phone or laptop fails in Arusha, Inauzwa can look at chargers, cables and accessories that are actually in the branch, and can point you to repair when that service is available. Send the hotel name on WhatsApp only when you want a delivery quote. This guide is not a promise of same-day delivery unless the branch has that option switched on.
